Brazil’s Vinicius Junior scored twice, leading his team to a 4-1 win against Paraguay in a Copa America Group D match in Nevada. The Real Madrid star redeemed himself after a lackluster first game, opening the scoring in the 35th minute with a smooth finish from a Lucas Paqueta assist.
Girona winger Savio extended Brazil’s lead, capitalizing on a rebound inside the box. Vinicius added his second goal just before halftime, deflecting a clearance from Paraguay’s Omar Alderete into the net.
Paraguay’s Alderete scored a stunning long-range goal in the second half, but Brazil quickly responded. Paqueta, who had missed a first-half penalty, redeemed himself by converting a second penalty in the 68th minute.
With this win, Brazil now sits in second place in Group D with four points, behind Colombia, who have six points and have already qualified for the quarterfinals. Costa Rica holds third place with one point, while Paraguay remains at the bottom with zero points from two matches.
