Bournemouth has officially signed Mexican full-back Julian Araujo from Barcelona on a five-year contract. The Premier League club secured the 23-year-old for a reported fee of €10 million, marking their fifth senior signing of the summer.
Araujo, who joined Barcelona from LA Galaxy last year, spent the previous season on loan at Las Palmas, where he made 25 La Liga appearances. His transfer to Bournemouth comes after strong interest from multiple clubs, with the Cherries ultimately winning the race for his signature.
“Julian is someone we have tracked for a while now, and we’re delighted to bring him to Bournemouth,” said Neill Blake, the club’s chief executive. “He’s a young player with high potential, and we believe he will thrive here at Vitality Stadium.”
Araujo began his professional career in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy, where he made 108 senior appearances. He has also earned 13 caps for the Mexican national team and was part of the squad that won the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Barcelona’s decision to sell Araujo adds to their transfer revenue as they continue to balance their financial books. The deal does not include any buy-back or sell-on clauses, allowing Bournemouth full ownership of the player.
Araujo joins new signings Dean Huijsen, Luis Sinisterra, Enes Unal, and Alex Paulsen on the south coast as Bournemouth continues to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
