Bayern Munich returned to form in spectacular fashion, sweeping aside VfL Bochum 5-0 on Sunday to reclaim the Bundesliga top spot after a disappointing 4-1 midweek loss to Barcelona in the Champions League. The decisive victory provided relief for head coach Vincent Kompany, whose side remains unbeaten domestically and has now scored an impressive 29 goals in their first eight league matches.

Bayern took the lead in the 16th minute when Michael Olise curled a superb free-kick into the top corner. Jamal Musiala, back in the starting lineup after a minor hip injury, made it 2-0 ten minutes later with a header from Joshua Kimmich’s free-kick. Bochum’s defense struggled to keep pace with Bayern’s relentless attack, and after the break, Bayern’s dominance only intensified.

Harry Kane found the net in the 58th minute, bringing his Bundesliga total to nine goals, before substitute Leroy Sané pounced on a defensive lapse to add Bayern’s fourth. Kingsley Coman sealed the victory with a stunning shot from distance, which struck the underside of the crossbar and went in, completing the rout.

The win puts Bayern at the top of the table, level on points with RB Leipzig but ahead on goal difference, while Bochum remains rooted to the bottom, winless in their first eight matches.
