Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State Governor and current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has disclosed a strained political relationship with his predecessor, Peter Odili. In a recent interview, Wike cited “political differences” as the reason for the rift, clarifying that they no longer collaborate politically.
Despite this, Wike emphasized his respect for Odili as a father figure. The exact nature of their differences was not explicitly stated, but analysts speculate it may relate to Wike’s ongoing feud with Siminalayi Fubara, his successor as governor.
Wike criticized PDP leaders who declared support for Fubara, labeling them as “political buccaneers.” He singled out Abiye Sekibo, Uche Secondus, Celestine Omehia, and Austin Opara, dismissing them as “expired politicians” who lack integrity.
He expressed disappointment in their sudden endorsement of Fubara after previously opposing him before the 2023 elections. Wike accused them of spreading rumors about Fubara and questioned their integrity for shifting alliances.
Wike condemned their call for Nigerians to support Tinubu, highlighting their lack of accomplishments for their constituents during their time in power. He asserted that Fubara seeks independence from these “political vampires” and expressed pity for their actions.
Ultimately, Wike urged Nigerians to focus on leaders who prioritize the welfare of the people over personal agendas.
