Huma Abedin, former longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, and Alex Soros, son of billionaire George Soros, are engaged. The couple shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of Soros, 38, proposing to Abedin, 47, in a picturesque setting with the caption, “This happened…we couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love.”
The engagement actually took place in May at their home in New York City, followed by a celebration in Italy. The pair met in the fall of 2023 at a mutual friend’s birthday party.
Abedin, now an MSNBC contributor and author of the 2021 memoir “Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds,” previously married former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner. They divorced in 2017 after Weiner’s conviction for transmitting sexual material to a minor. Abedin has a 12-year-old son, Jordan, from her previous marriage.
Soros, who recently took over his father’s $25 billion empire, serves as the chair of Open Society Foundations, which supports democratic principles, human rights, and justice.
