Elon Musk’s Estranged Transgender Daughter Plans to Leave U.S. After Trump’s Re-Election, Citing Political Climate

Elon Musk and Vivian Jenna Wilson

Vivian Jenna Wilson, the estranged transgender daughter of billionaire Elon Musk, has announced plans to leave the United States following Donald Trump’s re-election as President. Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022 to sever ties with Musk, shared her decision on Threads, expressing concern over the political environment under Trump’s renewed leadership.

“I don’t see my future in the United States,” Wilson wrote. “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if anti-trans regulations don’t happen, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”

Wilson has been outspoken about her strained relationship with Musk, attributing her disconnection to his political views and lack of support for her gender transition. Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump, has publicly blamed “neo-Marxist” ideologies in elite schools for their rift, claiming his daughter’s beliefs evolved from socialism to what he describes as “full communism.”

Musk has called the estrangement deeply painful, likening it to the grief of losing his first child. He has criticized the use of puberty blockers and expressed disdain for gender-affirming care, referring to it as “sterilization.” In response, Wilson stated that her father was largely absent during her childhood and often disparaged her femininity and queerness.

This family dispute has become emblematic of broader cultural and political divides in the U.S., amplified by Trump’s polarizing return to power and the ongoing debate over LGBTQ+ rights. Wilson’s decision to leave the country highlights the growing sense of disillusionment among young progressives in the current political climate.
