Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been detained in Romania as part of an ongoing investigation into new criminal allegations, including human trafficking and sexual relations with a minor. The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) announced that the investigation involves 35 alleged victims, one of whom was just 15 years old at the time.
The Tate brothers were previously indicted on charges of human trafficking and rape, which they have consistently denied. The new allegations, however, add to their legal troubles, with Romanian authorities now accusing them of using vulnerable individuals to produce pornographic content for online distribution. Prosecutors allege that the accused earned millions from the exploitation and have been involved in money laundering to conceal their illicit gains.
On Wednesday night, after a 10-hour search of four properties in Bucharest and Ilfov county, the brothers were taken into custody along with four others. The authorities seized luxury cars, cash, luxury watches, laptops, hard drives, and documents as part of the investigation.
Andrew Tate, known for his controversial and often misogynistic views, dismissed the latest allegations as “pathetic” and claimed that prosecutors were “desperate.” He suggested that the charges were part of a broader conspiracy to silence him.
Despite their denials, the Tates remain at the center of a high-profile investigation that has captured international attention. A Romanian court has barred them from leaving the country as they await trial on previous charges, and now face the possibility of further legal action as new evidence emerges.
