President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his cabinet, nominating seven new ministers and reassigning ten others in a major move to boost his administration’s efficiency. The shake-up, announced on Wednesday, also saw the removal of five ministers.
Among the new nominees is Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Other key appointments include Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Idi Maiha as Minister for the newly established Livestock Development Ministry. Nentawe Yilwatda replaces Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, with Yusuf Ata and Suwaiba Ahmad named Ministers of State for Housing and Education, respectively.
In the reshuffle, Tinubu dismissed Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women’s Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State for Housing), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).
The President urged the new appointees to see their roles as a call to serve the nation, stressing the urgency of delivering on key government priorities amid economic challenges. Tinubu’s first major cabinet adjustment follows growing public pressure for better governance amidst rising inflation and insecurity.
