President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as the Chairman of the NPA Board. This was announced in a statement by the President’s Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday.
Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, who holds a Doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a Master’s in International Transport from Cardiff University, has a wealth of experience within the NPA. He has previously served as Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager of Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff & Billing.
Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, the new Board Chairman, is a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician. He has served as the Minister of State for Works and was a Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.
President Tinubu expects the new leadership to enhance the efficiency of port services and improve industry outcomes. This leadership change includes the removal of Mohammed Bello-Koko, who had been serving as the NPA Managing Director since his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed in February 2022.
