The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has issued a warning regarding potential attacks on its transmission lines in the Zuba area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, reports have been received regarding planned assaults on TCN facilities in the region. Mbah urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities around power facilities to protect infrastructure integrity and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
TCN emphasized its dedication to managing Nigeria’s power grid despite challenges such as persistent low gas supply affecting power generation. Mbah highlighted the diligent efforts of TCN’s grid controllers in maintaining grid stability, citing their swift response to a recent disturbance on March 28, 2024, with power restoration achieved in some areas within 21 minutes.
Acknowledging collaborative efforts with the federal government, particularly the Minister of Power, to address gas supply issues, TCN aims to secure a higher volume and consistency of gas supply for enhanced power generation.
In addition to gas supply challenges, TCN faces various sector-specific hurdles that impact grid stability. The company remains committed to overcoming these obstacles to ensure reliable power transmission across Nigeria.
