Electricity consumers in Gombe and certain areas of Yola and Bauchi states are set to experience a temporary power outage on Thursday and Friday due to planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The TCN announced that its maintenance crew would conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on the T1A 150MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer bay on January 18 and 19, 2024.
During the maintenance, the TCN specified an eight-hour period from 9 am to 5 pm on both days. The maintenance involves transferring the load from the T1A 150MVA transformer to the T2A 150MVA transformer in the same substation.
As a result, there will be a temporary interruption of bulk power supply to Jos and Yola Distribution Companies (DisCos) through the T1A transformer. This short outage will specifically impact Gombe and some parts of Yola and Bauchi states during the transfer period on both days.
The TCN assured that the bulk power supply through the transformer would be promptly restored immediately after completing the maintenance exercise.
TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to electricity consumers in the affected areas and clarified that the interruption would be limited to the transfer period, not the entire eight-hour maintenance duration.
Recently, the TCN maintenance crew conducted preventive maintenance on the Jos-Lafia 330kV transmission lines that had been inactive for some time.
