Nigerian doctor and visual artist Fola David has shattered the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest individual drawing with his masterpiece, “Unity in Diversity.” Spanning an astounding 1,000 square meters, David’s artwork significantly surpasses the previous record of 629.98 square meters held by India’s Ravi Soni since 2021.
David embarked on his record-breaking journey on July 16th and completed it on July 21st at Onikan Stadium in Lagos. His creation, “Unity in Diversity,” vividly showcases Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry, showcasing the distinctive attire, languages, and artistic expressions of the country’s various ethnic groups.
Throughout his endeavor, David received overwhelming support from celebrities and dignitaries. Notable figures such as former presidential candidate Peter Obi, Lagos State officials, and Nigerian chef and GWR holder Hilda Baci visited the stadium to cheer him on.
President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu lauded David’s achievement, expressing immense pride in his accomplishment. In statements shared on social media, they commended his dedication and creativity, recognizing his work as a symbol of national unity and artistic excellence.
David’s record-breaking feat is part of a growing trend of Nigerians setting new Guinness World Records. His achievement continues to inspire many, reflecting the nation’s vibrant and resilient spirit.
