The Nigerian Air Force, through its Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeting terrorism and kidnapping in the North West and North Central regions, has successfully neutralized a terrorist syndicate in Kaduna State. The operation, announced by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, followed actionable intelligence indicating the movement of the syndicate along the Kwiga-Kampamin Doka axis.
The syndicate was linked to various attacks, including the recent ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on January 27, and multiple abductions of civilians in the Birnin Gwari area. The Air Force, upon reaching the suspected location, identified a convoy of about 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists.
A precision strike was executed, resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, commended the professionalism of the crew for patiently trailing the criminals until an appropriate opportunity to strike presented itself. He emphasized the need for sustained efforts, stating, “While this does not call for celebration on our part, we must keep pushing and striving.”
This decisive action underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining regional security, safeguarding civilians, and eliminating criminal elements, reflecting a focus on continued efforts to ensure the safety of the populace.
