In a historic move towards gender inclusivity, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Yetunde O. Longe as the first female Force Secretary. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced the appointment, emphasizing the commitment to gender equality and inclusivity within the Nigeria Police Force.
Yetunde O. Longe, with a career spanning over three decades since joining as a Cadet ASP on March 3, 1990, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Toxicology, her proficiency in crime management and investigation is notable. Throughout her career, Longe has held various key positions, including Administrative Officer, Crime Officer, Area Commander in Lagos, and Commissioner of Police for the Port Authority Police in Eastern Command and Port Harcourt. Her appointment underscores the importance of integrating women into strategic roles to enhance the effectiveness and development of the police force, promoting gender equality and empowerment within the organization.
