A 31-year-old man, Abubakar Tasi’u Tanimu, was apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for possession of 13 stolen ATM cards, along with a national identity card and a wallet containing various documents.
The arrest took place on Friday, December 29, 2023, when police operatives from the Department of State Intelligence were conducting surveillance patrol around Jambutu Motor Park in Jimeta, Yola. The suspect, residing in the Tsohon Kasuwa neighborhood, was swiftly taken into custody.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Command, shared this information in a press statement on Tuesday, January 2, 2023. He mentioned that the stolen ATM cards, originating from different banks, had been pilfered from a market in Mayo-Belwa, located in the southern part of Adamawa State.
“Investigation reveals that the suspect stole the items from Tsohon Kasuwa Mayo Belwa Local Government Area,” he stated, adding that he was in the process of selling the items at a shopping complex.
Nguroje assured that the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
