Governors of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Osun have declared Tuesday, August 20, 2024, as a public holiday to honor Isese Day, a significant celebration for traditional worshippers in the Yoruba community.
For the first time, Lagos State, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially recognized Isese Day with a work-free day for public servants. Similar declarations were made by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Osun State Government.
The public holiday reflects the states’ commitment to preserving Yoruba cultural heritage and promoting religious harmony. Public servants are expected to resume work on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
