The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, on Friday.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims both in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion, encouraging them to use the holiday to pray for lasting peace and prosperity in the country. He also called on Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, which are central to the celebration.
