The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has revealed the discovery of a warehouse in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, where expired and mislabelled goods were being sold.
In a social media statement, the FCCPC reported that based on intelligence, its operatives conducted a raid on the warehouse suspected of retailing harmful products, including vegetable oils, cereals, and other fast-moving consumer goods.
The agency stated that during the raid, the FCCPC found evidence of expired goods still on the shelves, deceptive labels on products, fake barcodes and repackaged and potentially unsafe products
The FCCPC said the warehouse is now sealed, and the owners along with a supplier are being investigated and that appropriate enforcement actions will follow.
