Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has denied any involvement in the alleged fraudulent payment of $6.2 million to foreign election monitoring observers. Mustapha emphasized that the letter attributed to former President Muhammadu Buhari did not originate from the Presidency. He also stated that another letter purportedly from him and bearing his signature was a forgery.
Mustapha made these statements while giving evidence during the trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele at the Federal Capital Territory High Court. He clarified that Jubrin Abubakar, who allegedly received the $6.2 million in cash on February 8, 2023, under Emefiele’s supervision, was not affiliated with the SGF’s office and was unknown to him.
Mustapha also criticized two letters allegedly from the Presidency and the SGF’s Office, stating that they did not adhere to the usual standards of official correspondence. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had accused Emefiele of forging these letters to defraud the Federal Government.
