Gunmen suspected to be assassins have killed Stephen Aniagu, the chairman of Ogbete Market Traders’ Association (OMATA) in Enugu State. The tragic incident took place on Saturday evening, September 14, 2024, in the Topland area of the state.
Aniagu was reportedly driving home when the attackers stopped his vehicle and shot him multiple times before fleeing with his car. Eyewitnesses captured the aftermath, showing Aniagu’s lifeless, bullet-riddled body in a pool of blood as stunned residents gathered at the scene.
The killing has sparked tension in Enugu, but the police have yet to release an official statement on the attack. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the assassination.
