The EFCC has recovered N30 billion from its investigation into Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. President Bola Tinubu suspended Edu and directed the EFCC to investigate financial transactions within her ministry.
The investigation has also led to the scrutiny of 50 bank accounts linked to the case. The recovered funds have been returned to the federal government. Ola Olukoyede, EFCC chairman, emphasized that investigations take time due to the complexity of the case and the need to follow leads properly.
The ongoing probe has resulted in the suspension of social investment programs, including N-Power and others, associated with the ministry. Olukoyede assured Nigerians of the EFCC’s commitment to fighting corruption and urged patience as they work through the process, citing the magnitude of the case and the intricacies involved in gathering evidence.
