On Wednesday, July 10, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola swore in 22 new Justices of the Court of Appeal and 12 Judges of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory at the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The newly appointed Justices of the Court of Appeal include:

  • Abdullahi Muhammad Liman (Nasarawa State)
  • Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi (Ogun State)
  • Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi (Oyo State)
  • Zainab Bage Abubakar (Kebbi State)
  • Isaq Mohammed Sani (Kaduna State)
  • Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo (Lagos State)
  • Ngozika U. Okaisabor (Imo State)
  • Donatus Nwaezuoke Okorowo (Enugu State)
  • Ruqayat Oremei Ayoola (Kogi State)
  • Polycarp Terna Kwahar (Benue State)
  • Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike (Rivers State)
  • Fadawa Umaru (Borno State)
  • Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola (Oyo State)
  • Ntong Festus Ntong (Akwa Ibom State)
  • Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi (Edo State)
  • Nnamdi Okwy (Abia State)

These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and improve the administration of justice in Nigeria.

Others include Abdu Dogo from Federal Capital Territory, Abuja; Abdulazeez M. Anka from Zamfara State; Owibunkeonye Onwosi from Ebonyi State; Asma’u Akanbi-Yusuf from Kwara State; Victoria Toochukwu Nwoye from Anambra State; and Enenche Eleojo from Kogi State.

Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister could be seen smiling as he watched his wife, Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, take the oath of office.
