Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife have regained their freedom after being kidnapped on Friday, August 16, while traveling to Abuja. The couple was en route to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, when they were abducted. During the attack, the commissioner’s aide, Kpajie Offia, tragically lost his life.
The couple was released on the night of Saturday, August 17, just 24 hours after the abduction. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Chris Aburime, confirmed their release, stating that it was achieved without paying a ransom. Aburime credited their safe return to divine intervention and the swift efforts of the authorities.
“We are grateful to have secured their release within 24 hours, and no ransom was paid,” Aburime said, expressing relief over the resolution of the situation.
