Saratu Gidado, affectionately known as Daso, a revered veteran actress in Kannywood, has tragically passed away at the age of 56.
The news of her sudden demise was confirmed by her relatives to local radio stations in Kano. Daso was found lifeless on Tuesday morning after the pre-dawn meal (Sahur) during Ramadan.
Daso, born on January 17, 1968, in Kano, made a significant mark in the Hausa film industry with her exceptional performances over 18 years. She was celebrated for her versatile roles and vibrant presence in hit movies like “Nagari,” “Gidauniya,” “Mashi,” and “Sansani.”
Before her illustrious acting career, Daso was a dedicated school teacher, reflecting her commitment and passion in all aspects of her life.
Her passing has left the Kannywood community in deep mourning, with colleagues and fans paying heartfelt tributes to her immense talent and warm-hearted nature. Habiba Umar, a close associate, emphasized that Daso’s departure creates a void that will be challenging to fill in the industry.

The funeral arrangements for Daso were scheduled for 4:00 PM as the industry continues to honor her memory and contributions.
