US rapper Fatman Scoop, known for his iconic voice and club anthems, has died at 53 after collapsing on stage during a performance in Hamden, Connecticut. Scoop, born Isaac Freeman III, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Scoop, famous for his 1999 hit “Be Faithful,” which topped charts in Europe, was performing at Hamden Town Center Park when he suddenly collapsed. Emergency responders tried to revive him on stage before he was transported to the hospital.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Scoop’s family described him as a “radiant soul” who brought joy and laughter to their lives. “If the world knew him as an artist who got clubgoers moving, we cherished him as the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage,” they wrote.

His manager, Birch Michael, expressed his sorrow on Facebook, saying, “I love you Scoop. Thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”

Scoop’s contributions to hip-hop included collaborations with Missy Elliott on the Grammy-winning “Lose Control” and various other hits that defined the early 2000s. His agency, MN2S, also remembered him as a passionate artist whose enthusiasm made an indelible mark on the music industry.

In addition to his music career, Scoop briefly found himself in a political controversy in Australia in 2018 when his song “Be Faithful” was used in a video posted by then-Prime Minister Scott Morrison, sparking debates over the song’s appropriateness.

Fatman Scoop’s sudden death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow artists, all mourning the loss of a hip-hop legend who made millions dance and celebrate life.
