Six suspects were brought before the Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos today, February 8, for allegedly attacking and blackmailing Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal at Oba Akintoye Market, Lagos Island, on Monday, February 5.
The actress faced harassment at the market over accusations of using a fake bank alert for purchases.
The suspects, consisting of four women and two men, were charged with conspiracy, breach of peace, and causing bodily harm. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on February 5, 2024, at Oba Akintoye Market.
During the court proceedings, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their lawyer requested bail, stating that they are market traders. The magistrate granted bail at N200,000 each, with one surety in like sum, who must be a Lagos State resident and provide evidence of tax payment.
The case has been adjourned until March 11 for further proceedings.
