In a recent live social media session, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels shared an intimate look into her journey to marriage with Nigerian politician Ned Nwoko, clarifying long-standing misconceptions about their relationship. Daniels, 24, revealed that her family initially opposed her decision to marry Nwoko, who is 38 years her senior and had multiple wives at the time.
Daniels recalled meeting Nwoko during a family sightseeing trip. She admitted feeling reluctant about the outing until she met the “charming man” who would become her husband. “I was frustrated with my family for making me go,” she laughed. “But when we arrived, I met a cute man, and that changed everything.”
Contrary to speculation, Daniels emphasized that the decision to marry Nwoko was entirely her own. “People assume my mom pushed me into the marriage, but actually, my mom and family were initially against it,” she explained. Daniels also humorously disclosed that she had “about twenty boyfriends” at the time, each playing “different roles” in her life, but meeting Nwoko changed her priorities. “When I met my husband, I forgot about having boyfriends,” she said.
Their marriage in 2019 made waves not only because of their age difference but also due to Nwoko’s prominent position and established family. Despite early public criticism, the couple’s relationship has continued to thrive, and they now share two sons.
Nwoko, who has addressed their marriage publicly, explained that his decision to marry Daniels stemmed from his desire to marry a woman from his hometown. “I wanted to marry someone from my place, and when I met Regina, I knew she was the one,” he once said.
Regina Daniels, known for her early start in Nollywood and growing social media presence, now juggles her career, family life, and her role as a public figure. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “People may have their opinions, but I followed my heart, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
