Controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after meeting the bail conditions set for his release. He was arrested by the Nigeria Police following a dispute over a N14 million debt incurred from purchasing a G-Wagon from a Lagos car dealer.
The arrest stemmed from a petition by the car dealer after Portable allegedly failed to pay the remaining N14 million balance of the N27 million vehicle price. Portable spent a night in police custody due to delays in presenting a reliable surety.
Videos of the arrest showed Portable attempting to evade police, leading to a chase and subsequent arrest. The incident sparked varied reactions, with some criticizing Portable for resisting arrest and others faulting him for not fulfilling his financial obligation.
This is not the first time Portable has faced legal issues. Previously, he was arrested for cursing and rough handling policemen in Ogun State, and later arraigned for assault and stealing. Despite his controversies, Portable remains a notable figure in the music industry.
