Nigerian musician Naira Marley, also known as Afeez Fashola, has made a public comeback with the release of two new tracks titled “Wahala” and “OMO.” This marks his first official engagement since the unresolved death of his former signee, Mohbad.
Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023, leading to allegations of assault against Naira Marley and his crew. Despite public outrage and accusations, Naira Marley has consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death.
Naira Marley, along with Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), faced detention but was later granted bail on November 29, 2023, with a bond of N20 million and three sureties. Additionally, he demanded N500 million and a public apology from Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo for spreading false information about him on her Instagram account.
In a letter sent through his lawyer, Naira Marley accused Iyabo Ojo of making defamatory statements, including allegations of spiritual and physical dealings with Mohbad, causing mental harm.
In a separate development, the embattled musician released the singles “Wahala” and “OMO” on the 29th of the same month. This comes after a prolonged absence from public releases since Mohbad’s demise. The songs have garnered reactions on his Instagram handle, where he stated, “Wahala out now; go listen for Marlians only.”
Despite ongoing controversies and investigations, Naira Marley expressed his return to Lagos, Nigeria, to assist authorities in the ongoing investigation and hopes for truth and justice to prevail.
