The inquest into the mysterious death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, resumed at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, with his parents, Joseph and Abosede Aloba, in attendance. The inquest aims to uncover the true cause of Mohbad’s sudden death on September 12, 2023.
An initial autopsy conducted at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) following the exhumation of his body on September 21 revealed the presence of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine. However, the concentration was not fatal, leaving the cause of death unresolved. Unsatisfied with these findings, Mohbad’s family pushed for a more comprehensive investigation, including a two-part autopsy. The first phase is complete, while toxicology and histology tests in the second phase are still pending.
Outside the courthouse, Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi led a peaceful protest, demanding justice and transparency in the investigation. Fabiyi, a vocal advocate for accountability in the entertainment industry, was joined by a group of supporters who carried placards calling for a full investigation into Mohbad’s death.
Adding to the controversy, key witnesses in the case, Naira Marley and Sam Larry, were absent from the court proceedings despite being summoned, further fueling public speculation and demands for answers.
The case has captured widespread attention, with many calling for the authorities to ensure that justice is served for the late singer.
