The family of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has rejected the autopsy results conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and is demanding an independent post-mortem and toxicology test. Mohbad died on September 12 at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, leading to the police exhuming his remains on September 21 for an autopsy, which was later declared inconclusive by pathologist Sunday Osiyemi due to body decomposition and possible medication reactions.
During a virtual press conference, Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, and the family’s legal team, led by Wahab Shittu, expressed dissatisfaction with the autopsy’s authenticity and the investigation’s integrity. They called for a thorough review and re-examination of the toxicology samples by a reputable and internationally recognized forensic laboratory, highlighting concerns about discrepancies and the involvement of various labs, including NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, USA.
The family emphasized the need for transparency and urged the Nigeria Police to enhance their investigation efforts, appealing for the intervention of Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun. They also sought the Coroner’s Court’s approval for an independent autopsy and toxicology test to ensure justice for Mohbad.
The family criticized the current investigation, stating it lacked the thoroughness and professionalism required for such a serious case, and vowed to continue their pursuit of truth and justice for Mohbad.
