The 51st Saturn Awards ceremony will honor Keanu Reeves with the inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award, dedicated to the late Reddick, who passed away in March 2023 at the age of 60. The entire event will pay tribute to Reddick, known for his role as Charon in the “John Wick” franchise, where he starred alongside Reeves.
Reeves and Reddick shared a close friendship, making the award even more special. The ceremony, streaming live on ElectricNOW at 4 p.m. PST on February 4, will be hosted by Joel McHale. Titus Welliver, star of “Bosch,” will present the award to Reeves.
The Saturn Awards organizers emphasized that the Lance Reddick Legacy Award celebrates not only a performer’s talent but also their character as a goodwill ambassador in the industry. Reeves, known for his diverse roles in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, has left an indelible mark with iconic films like “The Matrix Trilogy,” “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “Constantine,” and more.
In a joint statement, the organizers praised Reeves as a Hollywood icon and a shining example of humility and gratitude. They expressed their excitement about celebrating Lance Reddick’s memory with a dear friend and a genre icon like Keanu Reeves.
The Saturn Awards, established in 1973 to recognize excellence in genre work in film and TV, will also present other awards at the ceremony, with details to be announced soon. The legacy award reflects Reddick’s impact on the “John Wick” series and the broader genre community.
