Tito Jackson

Tito Jackson, a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5 and brother of Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 70. His sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson, confirmed the news on social media, sharing their deep grief. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Tito was part of the iconic Jackson 5, the group that revolutionized pop music in the 1960s and ’70s with hits like ABC, I Want You Back, and The Love You Save. Performing alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, Tito helped shape a musical legacy that has sold more than 150 million records globally. The Jackson 5 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980.

In a statement, Tito’s sons wrote: “We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared deeply about everyone’s well-being. He will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to follow his words: ‘Love One Another.’ We love you, Pops.”

Known for his rhythmic guitar playing and backing vocals, Tito contributed to the Jackson 5’s immense success as they became global superstars. Outside of the group, Tito launched a solo career as a blues musician in 2003 and found success with his 2016 single Get It Baby, which earned him a spot on the Billboard charts. He was the last Jackson sibling to chart a solo hit.

The Jackson family has experienced profound loss over the years, with Michael Jackson’s death in 2009 and their father, Joe Jackson, passing in 2018. Yet, the surviving siblings—Janet, La Toya, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon—continue to honor their shared legacy.

Just days before his death, Tito performed with his brothers in Munich, Germany, and visited a memorial dedicated to Michael Jackson. He expressed his gratitude to the fans, writing: “We’re deeply grateful for this special place that honors not only Michael’s memory but our shared legacy.”

Former Jackson 5 drummer Jonathan Moffett led the tributes, sharing on social media: “I’m stunned, devastated, and speechless. Tito, you were a brother in heart and spirit. My love and prayers go out to the entire Jackson family.”

Tito’s passing marks the end of another chapter in the story of one of the world’s most influential musical families, but his contributions to music and the enduring legacy of the Jackson 5 will continue to resonate with generations to come.
