Fireboy DML explained why he and Rema chose collaboration over beef in response to fan expectations. According to Fireboy, they decided to collaborate because they see themselves as advanced artists leading the new generation of Afrobeats.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Fireboy emphasized their decision: “Myself and Rema are the two leading artists of our generation. We came together and realized that instead of giving the fans what they expect, which is beef, let’s collaborate. Because we are beyond that.”
Rather than producing a typical club banger, they aimed to create meaningful music. Fireboy revealed that they have already worked on five more collaborations together.
This collaboration between Fireboy and Rema came after social media comparisons when both artists rose to stardom in the same year. The comparisons eased after Fireboy featured Rema on the track ‘Compromise’ from his third studio album, ‘Playboy’, indicating their mutual respect and positive relationship.
