The family of beloved gospel singer Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, has officially revealed the cause of her death, putting to rest widespread speculation. In a statement released on Tuesday, her family confirmed that Aduke Gold passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, due to cervical cancer. She was 34 years old.
Following her unexpected death at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, rumors began circulating on social media, with some reports claiming she had died during fibroid surgery. However, Aduke’s brother, Pastor Ajayi Aderogbo, addressed these rumors directly, stating, “Whoever is saying what is not should stop it, our daughter was ill, she had cervical cancer, she was taken to UCH in Ibadan and unfortunately, she died. The information spreading around is false.”
The University College Hospital also provided clarity on the situation, explaining that Aduke Gold died during a diagnostic procedure, not in a general ward or operating room as some had speculated. The delay in issuing her death certificate, which had caused some concern, was due to standard hospital procedures.
Aduke Gold, who was born in 1990 in Ilesha, Osun State, rose to prominence in the gospel music scene with her powerful Yoruba spirituals. Her music touched the hearts of many, and her unexpected passing has left a deep void in the Christian community.
