A newly released video from 2016 shows Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, in a Los Angeles hotel. The footage, aired by CNN, depicts Combs chasing, grabbing, and kicking Ventura in the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.
In the video, Combs is seen wearing only a towel as he exits a room, pursues Ventura, and throws her to the ground near the elevators. He then kicks her twice, drags her, and later shoves her into a corner while throwing an object at her. Ventura eventually stands up and attempts to use a wall phone before Combs returns and continues the assault.
This incident aligns with Ventura’s November lawsuit, where she accused Combs of over a decade of sexual abuse and physical violence. She claimed Combs paid $50,000 to the hotel to obtain the security footage, which CNN aired on Friday. Combs and Ventura settled the lawsuit the day after it was filed, with terms undisclosed.
Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, described the video as “gut-wrenching” and stated it confirmed Combs’ predatory behavior. Despite Combs’ previous denials, the video has intensified scrutiny, leading to multiple additional lawsuits and a federal sex-trafficking investigation. Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by federal authorities in March.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office commented on the video, acknowledging its disturbing nature but noting that charges could not be filed due to the statute of limitations. They encouraged victims or witnesses to report any crimes.
Prominent figures in the entertainment industry have condemned Combs following the video’s release. Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski labeled him a “monster” on social media, while singer Aubrey O’Day indicated that the video clarified previous allegations against him.
Combs, a three-time Grammy winner and influential figure in the hip-hop industry, faces ongoing legal challenges. He and Ventura began dating in 2007, with their tumultuous relationship lasting over a decade.
