Dele Momodu, renowned Nigerian journalist and uncle to Sophia Momodu, has provided insights into the ongoing custody battle between singer Davido and his baby mama, Sophia Momodu. Momodu revealed that the court has referred the case to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for possible settlement.
In a series of posts on Saturday, Momodu expressed his surprise at Davido’s affidavit seeking joint custody, noting that previous conversations with the singer had focused on his wedding and reconnecting with his daughter. Momodu advised both parties to engage genuinely in the ADR process and avoid making harmful statements on social media that could impact their child negatively.
Momodu emphasized that Sophia did not initiate the court action and is solely focused on protecting their daughter’s welfare. He highlighted the need for a proper structure to ensure a safe and sustainable relationship between Davido and his daughter.
Additionally, Momodu addressed issues such as school fees, accommodation, and nanny salaries, acknowledging the support from Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke. He stressed that the absence of effective communication between Davido and Sophia has exacerbated the situation and urged both parents to prioritize their daughter’s well-being and avoid media rhetoric.
Dele Momodu, a celebrated Nigerian journalist and uncle to Sophia Momodu, has revealed the position of the court over the custody battle between singer Davido and his baby mama.
Momodu in a post on his official handles on Saturday, disclosed that the court has referred the case for possible settlement by the alternative dispute resolution, ADR.
Sharing his opinion over the ongoing saga, Dele advised Davido and Sophia to have a proper structure put in place for their daughter’s welfare and take the issue off social media.
He wrote; “The court yesterday referred the case for possible settlement by the alternative dispute resolution, ADR, a section of the court during Settlement Week & I strongly advise that David and Sophia should engage truly with the process as opposed to making harmful and irreversible statements on social media which not only violate the law but the interest of their child.
“I have in the past 9 years tried to ensure amicable resolution of disputes and encouraged both parents to have a proper structure put in place for their daughter’s welfare. It is important to note that Sophia didn’t instigate this court action and is only seeking to protect their child and ensure that there is a structured, safe and sustainable manner in which father and child can engage with each other.
“The vitriolic rhetoric in the media should be avoided by all means as this only further inflames what is already a traumatic experience for all parties involved, especially the child in question”, he stated.
The court’s involvement aims to create a structured environment for their daughter, ensuring that both parents can engage with her in a manner that serves her best interests.
