Erica Ash, the multi-talented actor, comedian, singer, and model, known for her roles in “Survivor’s Remorse” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” has died at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family confirmed her passing, stating she transitioned peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
“Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts,” her family shared in a statement.
Erica Ash began her career on stage, performing in notable productions such as Broadway’s “Baby It’s You,” a Disney touring production of “The Lion King,” and the Off-Broadway show “Soul Doctor.” She gained widespread recognition on television, featuring in “MADtv,” “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” and her standout role as M-Chuck in the Starz drama “Survivor’s Remorse.”
Born to a U.S. Army Captain/Chaplain and a math teacher, Ash’s upbringing involved frequent relocations, including time in Germany. She graduated from Emory University with a pre-med degree but ultimately followed her passion for performance. Her career took her to Japan, where she worked as a model, singer, and actor before establishing herself in the U.S. entertainment industry.
Ash’s versatile talent shone through various roles in television and film. She played Kendra Brooks in “Scary Movie V,” appeared in 19 episodes of “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” and guest-starred on series such as “A Black Lady Sketch Show” and “Family Reunion.” On “MADtv,” she showcased her comedic skills by impersonating celebrities like Naomi Campbell and Whoopi Goldberg.
The entertainment industry mourned Ash’s loss, with many paying tribute to her life and legacy. Director Christopher Landon, who worked with Ash on “We Have A Ghost,” expressed, “Erica Ash was a light. Beautiful, funny, beyond talented. I was blessed to work with her and call her my friend. My heart goes out to her family and friends right now.”
Ash’s family has requested that donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or another breast cancer foundation in her memory.
