Adele and Celine Dion Share Tearful Hug at Las Vegas Residency, Marking a Touching ‘Passing of the Torch’ Moment

In a rare, heartfelt moment on Saturday night, music superstars Adele and Celine Dion shared an emotional embrace during Adele’s Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum Theater in Caesars Palace — a venue originally built for Dion’s iconic debut residency in 2003.

During her performance of “When We Were Young,” Adele spotted Dion in the audience. Overcome with emotion, Adele paused and approached Dion, who was seated in a side box. The two embraced warmly, with Dion holding Adele’s face in her hands and later kissing her hand as the British singer returned to the stage with tear-stained cheeks. The moving exchange was captured by fans and quickly circulated on social media, drawing admiration from fans worldwide.

Audience member Nasser, who filmed the moment, described the encounter as a symbolic “passing of the torch,” as if Dion were “proudly handing the keys to Adele.” The two artists have expressed mutual admiration for years. In 2018, Adele attended one of Dion’s shows at the Colosseum and later posted about the experience, calling it a highlight of her life and sharing her admiration for Dion’s humor and stage presence. Dion, who was accompanied by her sons, appeared equally moved, dabbing her eyes after their hug.

Known to be a devoted fan of Dion, Adele famously revealed that her “proudest possession” is a framed piece of Dion’s gum, gifted to her by friend James Corden after a “Carpool Karaoke” session with Dion.

The tender moment took on added significance as Adele’s two-year Las Vegas residency nears its end in November. During a recent show in Munich, the Grammy winner shared plans to step away from the spotlight for a “long time” after her residency, making this poignant encounter a fitting homage to one of her greatest inspirations.
