American Airlines

American Airlines made history with its longest-ever nonstop flight, connecting Dallas-Fort Worth to Brisbane over a 15-hour journey spanning 8,300 miles. Flight AAL7, a Boeing 787-9, departed Dallas on Saturday night and landed early Monday morning in Brisbane, marking the longest route by distance for both American Airlines and Brisbane Airport.

This inaugural flight featured a crew of three pilots, a relief captain, and 11 flight attendants. To celebrate, passengers departing from Dallas received gift bags with koala plushies, commemorative postcards, and vouchers for a koala encounter at Brisbane’s Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Upon arrival, crew members displayed American and Australian flags from the cockpit, a moment that was livestreamed to over 12,000 viewers on Brisbane Airport’s YouTube channel.

The direct link between Dallas and Brisbane, operating five times weekly and increasing to daily flights in December, is expected to bring over 141,000 travelers to Queensland over the next three years. Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff highlighted the route’s potential to strengthen ties in agriculture, energy, and biotechnology between Texas and Queensland.
