Tumi “Gogo Skhotheni” Motsoeneng, a popular sangoma and podcaster, is grieving the death of her son, Monde Junior Shange. The young boy passed away on Monday at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital after spending nearly two years in intensive care.
Monde Jr., born without an oesophagus, underwent multiple surgeries and required a machine to eat. Despite her hopes of bringing him home for Christmas this year, he remained in the hospital, where he had been since birth.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, the family requested privacy during this difficult time, asking for understanding and compassion as they navigate their loss.
Gogo Skhotheni had previously expressed her deep connection to her son, even tattooing his face on her arm last December. She visited him nearly every day, often sharing how his smile comforted her despite his struggles. Earlier this year, she opened up about the emotional toll of his condition and her fears of losing him.
The family is now left to mourn the loss of their beloved son, who fought bravely throughout his short life.
