Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed three places in the latest FIFA rankings, now sitting 36th in the world and 4th in Africa. This jump follows their narrow 1-0 victory against Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier earlier this month.
The latest rankings show Nigeria’s improved position in Africa, trailing only Morocco (13th globally), Senegal (20th), and Egypt (30th). Algeria rounds out the top five African teams, moving up to 37th globally.
FIFA highlighted a busy month of international football, with numerous qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2025 AFCON influencing the rankings. Globally, Argentina remains at the top, followed by France and Spain. Other notable movers include Algeria, Peru, and Greece, with Cameroon re-entering the top 50.
In Africa, teams like Comoros and Sudan made significant progress, each climbing 10 spots, as a result of recent victories in AFCON qualifiers.
