President Bola Tinubu has named Sunday Dare as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, placing him under the Ministry of Information and National Orientation. The appointment was announced on Wednesday as part of a major cabinet reshuffle.
Dare, a veteran journalist and experienced public official, served as Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development from 2019 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. He also held key roles at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and was a media adviser to Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State governor.
With a B.Sc. in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University and a Master’s in International Law from the University of Jos, Dare has also completed fellowships at Oxford, Harvard, and New York University.
The announcement was made alongside other sweeping administrative changes aimed at improving governance. Tinubu sacked five ministers, reassigned ten to new portfolios, and nominated seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.
Additionally, the President dissolved the Ministry of Sports Development, transferring its responsibilities to the newly re-established National Sports Commission. Shehu Dikko has been appointed to lead the commission, with the goal of transforming the sports sector into a vibrant economic driver.
This reshuffle underscores Tinubu’s commitment to aligning his administration for improved performance and delivering on promises to Nigerians.
