On Thursday, Lionel Messi received a special award from Spanish sports publication MARCA, recognizing him as the player with the most collective titles in football history. The Argentine icon, who has amassed 46 team trophies and 56 individual awards, was honored at a ceremony in Miami, where he now plays for Inter Miami.

Messi’s recent move to the United States has already yielded success, with the legendary forward helping Inter Miami secure titles, including the MLS Supporters’ Shield, as the club prepares for its playoff debut.

The award ceremony attracted prominent figures, including Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas, the club’s Chief Business Officer Xavier Asensi, and former NBA and Real Madrid player Salah Mejri. Speaking at the event, Jorge Mas praised Messi’s impact:
“We hope he keeps scoring goals, and that we get the win this Saturday to set a new points record and celebrate the Supporters’ Shield at home. Our next goal is to push for the MLS Cup.”

With this new recognition, Messi continues to add to his illustrious career, solidifying his place as one of the greatest athletes in sports history. As he leads Inter Miami into the playoffs, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will look to capture another milestone by guiding the club to its first MLS Cup title.
