Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has introduced a new N73,000 minimum wage for state workers, surpassing the federal government’s N70,000 benchmark. He made this announcement during the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign event in Ondo City, ahead of the upcoming November 16 election.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged supporters to translate their backing into votes for the APC, emphasizing the need for continuity to sustain the state’s ongoing development projects. “Your support has been clear, and the best way to ensure more progress is by voting for continuity,” Aiyedatiwa told the crowd.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements over the last 10 months, the governor highlighted significant progress in agriculture, road construction, healthcare, and education. Aiyedatiwa noted that his administration had taken proactive steps to boost food production, approve over a billion naira for land clearing, and improve rural infrastructure.
Addressing the healthcare sector, the governor shared that salary and allowance increases for doctors had successfully reduced the number of healthcare workers leaving the state, a phenomenon referred to as the “Japa” syndrome. These reforms, he explained, were designed to keep professionals in Ondo.
State APC Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin urged voters to safeguard their voter cards and rally behind the party to maintain its leadership. Hon. Abiola Makinde, Director-General of the campaign, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and transparency, urging citizens to mobilize at the grassroots level for a strong election turnout.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, also lauded the governor’s dedication to timely salary payments, road rehabilitation, and funding for public school WAEC fees. Additionally, former PDP gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Kolade Akinjo, who recently joined APC, expressed his confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and called for strong voter participation.
As the election approaches, party leaders emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization, urging members to remain fully committed to securing victory for Aiyedatiwa and the APC on November 16.
