Portugal continued their flawless start in the Nations League with a commanding 3-1 win over Poland, powered by goals from Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo. The victory cemented Portugal’s place at the top of their group, with Ronaldo adding to his record tally of 133 international goals.

The visitors took control in the first half, with Bernardo Silva volleying in the opener after a well-placed header from Bruno Fernandes. Eleven minutes later, captain Ronaldo doubled the lead, calmly slotting in a rebound after Rafael Leão’s dazzling solo run ended with his shot hitting the post.

Poland fought back late in the second half, with Piotr Zielinski smashing a powerful strike into the roof of the net in the 78th minute to give the home side a glimmer of hope. However, an own goal from Polish defender Jan Bednarek in the dying minutes sealed their defeat, extending Portugal’s unbeaten streak.

Ronaldo, who now has three goals in three Nations League games, was substituted in the 63rd minute as coach Roberto Martinez managed his playing time. Despite a few chances from Poland’s star striker Robert Lewandowski, the hosts struggled to break through Portugal’s solid defense.

Portugal remains top of their group with nine points from three games, while Poland, sitting third, will need to bounce back in their upcoming matches. The game also marked a milestone for Poland’s 19-year-old debutant Maxi Oyedele, who came on in the second half.

Next up, Portugal will face bottom-of-the-group Scotland, who have yet to win a game in the competition.
