Inter Milan secured their first Champions League win of the season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade at the San Siro, led by an impressive performance from Mehdi Taremi.
Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick in the 11th minute, curling the ball in off the post to give Inter an early lead. Taremi, who joined Inter in July, played a crucial role in two more goals, showcasing his tenacity and sharpness.
In the 59th minute, Taremi intercepted the ball from Red Star defender Rade Krunic just outside the box and set up Marko Arnautovic for a composed finish to make it 2-0. Taremi continued to wreak havoc, taking advantage of another defensive error in the 71st minute, this time setting up substitute Lautaro Martinez for Inter’s third goal.
Taremi then capped off his excellent night by scoring from the penalty spot after Vanja Drkusic brought down Martinez in the box. The Iranian forward calmly converted to seal Inter’s 4-0 victory.
The win follows Inter’s goalless draw against Manchester City in their Champions League opener, while Red Star Belgrade suffered their second defeat of the group stage. Inter will face Young Boys in their next match, while Red Star travel to Monaco.
