Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, but the game ended with concern for Bayern as star striker Harry Kane limped off with a late injury.
Leverkusen took a surprise lead in the 31st minute through Robert Andrich’s powerful low strike from outside the box, set up by Granit Xhaka. Despite dominating possession, Bayern were pegged back until Aleksandar Pavlovic equalized shortly before halftime with a stunning 25-yard volley that left goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky with no chance.
Bayern created several chances to take the lead, with Serge Gnabry coming closest in the second half. He hit the post and sent a rebound shot over the bar after being set up by Kane. Despite Bayern’s relentless pressure, Leverkusen’s defense held firm to secure a valuable point.
Harry Kane, who had a quiet game, was substituted late on after picking up a knock during a collision with Amine Adli. Although visibly limping, Kane expressed optimism after the match, stating he expects to be fit for Bayern’s Champions League clash with Aston Villa next week.
The draw leaves Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga with 13 points, two ahead of RB Leipzig, while Leverkusen sits in third place with 10 points. Both teams remain unbeaten after five matches, with Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso pleased with his team’s resilience against the reigning champions.
