Music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. The indictment, unsealed in New York, accuses Combs of orchestrating a criminal enterprise through his business ventures, including Bad Boy Entertainment, to facilitate the abuse and exploitation of women over more than a decade.
Prosecutors allege that Combs, 54, used his influence and wealth to manipulate and control victims, organizing drug-fueled parties and covering up acts of physical and sexual abuse. The charges come after a series of civil lawsuits against the music mogul, with some claims originating from his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who has publicly accused him of long-term abuse.
Combs pleaded not guilty and has been denied bail, with prosecutors citing concerns of witness tampering and the severity of the allegations. If convicted, he faces a potential life sentence. His legal team has announced plans to appeal the bail decision, maintaining that Combs is innocent and will vigorously fight the charges in court.
This arrest is the latest development in a growing scandal, as Combs also faces numerous civil suits related to similar allegations. The criminal charges mark a significant escalation in the legal battles facing the music legend, who could spend the rest of his life behind bars if found guilty.
