Atlético Madrid continued their strong start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Valencia in LaLiga on Sunday. Conor Gallagher, Antoine Griezmann, and Julián Álvarez each found the back of the net, securing a win that keeps Atlético unbeaten and in second place in the league standings.

The breakthrough came in the 39th minute when Gallagher, making his mark after a summer move from Chelsea, coolly slotted a pass from Rodrigo De Paul into the bottom corner. Gallagher’s goal not only put Atlético ahead but also made him the first English player to score for the club in LaLiga history.

Valencia fought for a way back, but they couldn’t break Atlético’s defense. Javi Guerra’s long-range effort went wide, and shortly after halftime, Griezmann capitalized on a loose ball from a Samuel Lino header to double the lead in the 54th minute.

Julián Álvarez, another of Atlético’s key summer signings, sealed the victory in stoppage time. The Argentine, who joined from Manchester City, calmly finished a cross from Rodrigo Riquelme to score his first LaLiga goal.

Álvarez expressed his satisfaction after the match, saying, “I didn’t feel pressured to score. The goal came as part of the game, and we’re building good momentum as a team.”

Manager Diego Simeone praised both Gallagher and Álvarez, highlighting their positive impact on the team. “Gallagher has brought the energy we needed in midfield, and Álvarez’s goal will help him settle even more.”

With this win, Atlético Madrid moves level with Real Madrid on 11 points, trailing only Barcelona. Their focus now shifts to a crucial Champions League match against RB Leipzig on Thursday.
